The feast of the Assumption the blessed Virgin Mary & Independence Day

August 15th, 2021 by

It was indeed an important day in St Joseph’s Seminary for we could celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 75th Independence Day of our Nation on 15th of August 2021. The solemn feast began with the Vespers (the Prayer of the Church) on the previous evening at 7:30 lead by Rev. Fr Ronald Serrao (the Rector), deacons Roshan Bamin and Rejin. Next day there was a solemn Mass in Hindi presided over by Rev. Fr Daniel Veigas OP. The choir was lead by Brothers of Hindi Academy. In his homily, he invited all the seminarians to imbibe the qualities of Mother Mary and thereby to become blessed as Mary was. After the Holy Mass, there was a flag hoisting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto was the chief guest of the day. The chief guest motivated all of us with a beautiful message. Thus, he conveyed a message that the future of India is in our hand. Thereafter there was a friendly volleyball match between the students of Theology and Philosophy in which the students of Theology won the match. Thus, the ceremony was over and the day continued.
