Rev. Fr Aloysius D’Souza is a priest of the diocese of Mangalore and currently serves as a Spiritual Father at St Joseph’s Seminary Mangalore. Rev. Fr Aloysius D’Souza was born on 29th January, 1925. His native place is Puttur of Mangalore. He did his seminary studies at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore and Papal Seminary, Candy. He was ordained as a priest on 24th August 1953. He obtained his Licentiate from Urban University, Rome. He wrote his thesis on the theme “Dogma”.
Fr Aloysius D’Souza has worked in various capacities during his 61 years of pastoral experience as a priest in Mangalore diocese. He was the Assistant Parish Priest at Bejai, Missionary Parish Priest at Arva, Parish Priest and Vicar Forane at Pejar and also at Kinnigoli. Being the Vicar General of the Mangalore Diocese he has rendered invaluable service to the diocese. After his retirement he is giving his service at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore.
Apart from this, he has held several other responsibilities in the Diocese of Mangalore. He was the secretary to the Bishop and to the Diocesan Curia and also the notary of the Ecclesiastic Tribunal. Besides this he was the Diocesan Director of Y.C.W., Manager of Codialbail Press and also the Director of St Antony’s Charity Institutions, Jeppu.
He has several books and articles to his credit. He has been preparing ‘Ordo – the liturgical calendar’ every year since 1965 for Mangalore and for some other dioceses.
