Rev. Dr Ronald Serrao Rector & Professor of Sacred Liturgy

Rev. Dr Ronald Serrao is a priest of the diocese of Mangalore and currently serves as the Rector and Professor of Theology at St Joseph’s Seminary Mangalore. He was born on 30th September, 1960. His native place is Bolakunje, now Angelore. He had his studies at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore and was ordained Priest on 30th April 1987. His mission statement is “to be His witnesses”. He has a Master’s degree in Sociology. Dr Serrao obtained his Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy from St Anselmo, Rome. He wrote his thesis on the theme “From the Middle Ages to the Reform of Vatican II: Liturgical History of the Diocese of Mangalore”. He obtained his Doctorate (S.L.D) in Sacred Liturgy from St Anselmo, Rome in 1999. The theme of his doctoral thesis is “Translation of Liturgical Texts”. Dr Serrao has served the Church in various capacities during his 32 years of Priesthood. He has the happiness of serving as an Assistant Parish Priest at Moodubelle Church from 1987 to 1989. Thereafter, he joined the staff on 30th May 1989 until he left for his studies to Rome in 1993. Back from Rome in February 1999, he was appointed director of the Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (DBCLC), Mangala Jyothi. He was appointed as the Seminary staff for the second time on 30th May 2006.

Dr. Ronald Serrao has several books and articles to his credit. He has written more than 60 books in Konkani and English. He has written several articles to Joskiran, Raknno (Mangalore Diocesan Weekly), Naman Balok Jezu and other Konkani Magazines on Theological and Social issues.
