Mission Symposium 2019-2020

The Mission Symposium-2019 with the theme ‘Mission of the Baptized: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ organised by St Joseph’s Interdiocesan Seminary, Jeppu, Mangalore was held on 24th October 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at the Centenary Memorial Hall of the Seminary. Rev. Dr Stany Goveas, the Parish priest of St Thomas Church, Shahabad, Gulbarga and former professor of the Seminary was the speaker of the Symposium. He presented with his vast experience, a detailed scholarly talk on the theme. He began with giving fundamental understanding of the topic and explained the biblical background of the same. Later he expressed that proclaiming Christ still remains a basic duty of each Christian despite of the challenges one is facing today. Living a dedicated and holy life itself is the witness to Christ. He added that the Church condemns the forceful conversion of any sort. He also called the priest and religious to be Holy so that the Evangelization may happen both inside the Church and also outside the Church.
Rev. Fr Nelson D’Almeida, the professor of St Joseph seminary moderated the session. Bishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Rector of the Seminary Very Rev. Dr Ronald Serrao, professors, priests and nuns of various Institutions and Convents were present. Director of the Symposium, Rev. Fr Alex Kalarikkal welcomed the gathering and Br Leo D’Souza compered the session. The Symposium was winded up at 7. 15 pm with the Seminary Anthem.
