Fr. Ivan D’Souza, Department of Philosophy
Fr. Ivan D’Souza is a priest of the Diocese of Mangaluru, Karnataka. He hails from St Dominic’s Church, Miyar near Karkala, Udupi district.At present he is in the teaching faculty of St Joseph inter diocesan seminary, Mangalore. He has pursued both philosophical and theological studies in St Joseph Seminary, Mangaluru. He holds licentiate (Masters in Philosophy) and doctorate in Indian Philosophy from Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV), Pune. The topic of his licentiate thesis was “The Relation between Liṅga and Aṅga in Śrīkarabhāṣyam of Śrīpatipaṇḍita: A Hermeneutical Exploration.” His doctoral research was on “Paramamukhyavṛtti (Super-Primary Meaning) in Dvaita Vedānta of Madhva: A Hermeneutical Probe into its Scriptural Application and Significance.” He has M.A. in Philosophy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and M.A. in Kannada Literature from University of Kuvempu, Shivamogga (Karnataka). He also holds a black belt in martial arts from Wado-Ryu Karate Do School, Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV), which is affiliated to Wado-Ryu Federation of India.
He was ordained in April 15, 2010. His mission statement is, “to proclaim the Gospel of peace.” He has served as assistant parish priest at Infant Jesus Church, Bantwal-Modankap (2010-2012) and at Guardian Angel’s Church, Angelore (January to May 2018).
